Learning From Home- Helpful Resources
Bring the fun of Computers Special home with these helpful links!
Learning.com: This site is where we normally do our Computers Special Lessons each week. I will add new choices weekly where possible.
Step 1: Go to: Learning.com
Step 2: When the homepage opens, click the "Login" button on the top right hand corner of the page.
Step 3: When the window opens, click the "Clever" link circled below- this should open Learning.com immediately- students don't have to sign in.
Step 4: The site then asks for your school, so type in the following: centennial higley The site will pull up our full school name, then just click on it, or press the "Enter" key.
Step 5: "Login to Active Directory" window comes up, then click inside that next to the colored squares- your child's list of lessons will then come up.
Other links we use in class for our Explore Time:
Prodigy Math Game site Recommended for students Grades 1 and up. Click on "Play Prodigy" link to start play- technically a paysite, but kids can play free- just ignore the subscribe requests! Students grades 1-6 were given or made their Usernames and Passwords in class, if your child forgot them, please e-mail Mr. Brehony using the following address:
Daniel.Brehony@husd.org
I will then contact you with your child's credentials.
Scratch Coding website Students can use this free site to create their own coded projects- this site is a bit more advanced, but has tutorial videos. Students can also make a free account to make and share coded projects!
Code.org website Another great free coding website to learn coding skills- I recommend this site if your child is new to coding- lots of level choices.
Weave Silk Art site Students love this site to create unique art pieces painted with light- a great way to teach symmetry for all ages.
BrainPOP! Centennial has an account thanks to our Fabulous PTO- it's totally free for students grades K-6. Students can learn just about anything with topics such as Math, Science, Social Studies, Arts, Tech, etc. The site has two levels:
BrainPOP!Jr. = Recommended for Grades K-3
BrainPOP! = Recommended for Grades 4-6
To access your child's account, choose "Log In" on the top right of the homepage; there is also a Request Free Access option as well- see snip below:
If you still need help accessing your child's account, please contact Mr. Brehony using the following address:
Daniel.Brehony@husd.org
I can then send you some helpful information.
ABCYa Learning Games This site offers games themed for: Letters, Numbers, Holiday, Strategy, and Skill. It's technically a paysite, but kids can play free. If a game does not load, it's probably on the "Premium" list and can't be accessed, I just tell students to try another game instead.
This Is Sand This is a fun site where students can create beautiful sand paintings with pixels instead of sand- looks like the real thing and loads of fun!
