History

Centennial was named in honor of the district's 100th anniversary, which it celebrated in 2009.  This amazing school opened in August of 2009 to almost seven hundred students with room across our campus to grow.  At the present time we are 600+ students and growing.  We are a community school in the Higley Unified School District serving neighborhood kindergarten through sixth grade students.

Our learning environment provides each and every child the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe environment and develop a life-long quest for learning and knowledge.   The staff and students pride ourselves in a commitment to leadership and kindness.  Last year our 6th graders did the "Great Kindness Challenge" and we will continue to make that a part of our culture but extend it throughout the school this year.

After its first year of operation, Centennial was designated an Excelling school by the Arizona Department of Education in 2010. Each year since, Centennial has earned the state’s top academic label for being an “A Rated School.” In 2010 Centennial was awarded AdvancEd accreditation, just one year after opening. In 2013-14 Centennial was voted the #1 Elementary School in the East Valley by the Tribune Newspaper and in 2014-15 it received it's highest honors with being named the #1 Ranked K-6 Public School in the State of Arizona and in April of 2015 Centennial Elementary received the honors of being named an A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Education Foundation.

Centennial is unique as you will find out as you walk into the front doors and are welcomed by an amazing staff.  We strive to make every decision on what is best for students and believe in high achievement for all.  As we continue to grow and you join us we hope you find yourselves in an amazing atmosphere where students come first and the love for learning is felt at every corner of our buildings.
